If PCTU is on your shortlist, begin with the written international fee sheet and course documents—not a consultant's one-line total. Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) publishes a six-year Medicine programme and a 2026 fee notice that says international students pay double the Vietnamese-student tuition. For an Indian applicant, the sensible next step is to verify the final VND amount, medium of instruction, clinical plan, accommodation and India-side licensing position before paying.

The official PCTU fee notice is the strongest current source for the numbers above. The university says the 2026 Vietnamese-student Medicine fee is 44,000,000 VND per semester, with two semesters each year and a six-year duration. It then states that international students enrolled in English- or Vietnamese-taught programmes pay double the Vietnamese-student fee. That is a useful reference, but the international offer should control the payment decision.
What the 2026 fee notice means in practice
Using the published rate mechanically, 88,000,000 VND per semester would be the international-student reference, or 176,000,000 VND for two semesters. Over twelve semesters, that is 1,056,000,000 VND before accommodation and other items. Do not treat the arithmetic as a guaranteed six-year rupee budget: currency conversion, fee policy, one-time charges and the student's actual offer can change the total.
The notice separately mentions a Medicine uniform charge of 2,430,000 VND, an initial health-check reference of 700,000 VND and a student service fee of 200,000 VND per year. It labels some other fees as reference figures for 2025, so an Indian student should ask which of them apply to international students and which have been updated for the 2026 cohort.
Budget separately for passport and document preparation, translation or authentication if required, visa and residence formalities, flights, insurance, daily living, devices, books, local transport and an emergency reserve. A low tuition headline is not the same as a low total cost of attendance.
Eligibility: what an Indian applicant should prepare
PCTU's international admissions office should make the final academic decision. As a working file, prepare:
- Class 10 certificate and marksheet.
- Class 12 certificate and marksheet showing Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- NEET scorecard and qualification evidence where applicable to the Indian pathway.
- Passport, photographs and school leaving or transfer documents.
- English-medium certificate if the school can issue one.
- Health or medical fitness documents in the format requested.
- Any notarised, translated or authenticated copies requested in writing.
The key question is not only “Can I apply?” It is “Will the university accept my academic profile for this exact programme and will the completed course satisfy the India-side pathway I intend to use?” Ask PCTU to confirm the accepted Class 12 equivalence, the age rule, the intake deadline and whether an interview, entrance assessment or additional science evidence is required.

English-medium study and clinical language
PCTU's international admissions material and its official website make international study a clear part of the university's offer. That still leaves practical questions that a brochure cannot answer. Request a document stating which pre-clinical and clinical subjects are taught in English, which exams are in English, when clinical postings begin, and how Vietnamese is taught for patient interaction.
WDOMS currently lists PCTU as operational and shows a Doctor of Medicine programme; its school record also indicates that 75–99% of the programme involves clinical training. This is a useful directory check, not a promise about the exact schedule for a future cohort. Ask for the affiliated or university teaching hospitals, student-to-supervisor arrangements, attendance requirements, clinical logbook and internship or graduation documentation.
Vietnamese will matter in wards even when lectures are in English. A student should understand how histories, consent, patient instructions, case presentations and safety communication are handled. If the answer is “students learn on their own”, that is a material gap to resolve before admission.
Dormitory and daily student life
PCTU's official notice lists two dormitory room categories: Type A at 1,600,000 VND per student per month and Type B at 1,100,000 VND. It says laundry, drying and water are included, electricity is calculated per room and shared, and rooms accommodate up to four students. Confirm whether these terms apply to international students, whether a deposit is refundable, how rooms are assigned, and what happens during university holidays.
Also ask about the commute between the dormitory, teaching buildings and clinical sites; airport arrival support; emergency contacts; medical care; curfew and visitor rules; internet; meals; and the process for visa or residence paperwork. Parents should request current photographs or a video walkthrough of the actual room category rather than relying on a generic campus image.
Recognition and payment checklist
Before transferring money, keep one folder containing:
- the official offer letter and fee schedule;
- the programme curriculum and medium-of-instruction statement;
- the exact degree title and awarding body;
- clinical hospital and internship documents;
- dormitory terms, refund rules and other charges;
- the university bank details verified through an official channel;
- the NMC and WDOMS checks, with their limitations recorded.
WDOMS itself cautions that directory inclusion does not equal recognition, accreditation or endorsement. Do not use phrases such as “NMC approved” unless an official NMC document actually says so for the precise institution and circumstance. A sensible PCTU application sequence
First, request a profile review and written international eligibility decision. Next, ask for the programme, clinical and fee documents. Only then proceed with the formal admission, visa and pre-departure steps.
