The safest way to prepare an MBBS in Vietnam application is to build one complete document folder before paying a deposit. For most Indian applicants, that folder includes a valid passport, Class 10 and Class 12 records, school-leaving evidence, an English-medium certificate, photographs and a medical fitness certificate. NEET evidence may also be needed, but its role differs between a university's admission policy and India's foreign-medical-graduate rules.
This checklist is designed for the 2026 intake. It helps you identify missing papers and questions; it is not a substitute for the final checklist issued by the university.

Use the site's MBBS eligibility guide, university profiles and admission process together. The fee guide is useful only after the programme, fee year and included items are matched to the offer.
1. Passport and identity documents
Start with the passport because every later file should use the same name order and spelling. Check the passport against the Class 10 and Class 12 records. If the names differ because of initials, a missing surname or a spelling variation, ask the university whether it needs an affidavit, correction or additional identity proof before the application is submitted.
Keep a colour scan of the photo page and the pages containing relevant visas or observations. Do not send a passport image to an unverified personal number. Use the university's official admissions channel or a documented admissions partner, and retain the submission receipt.
The passport must also be valid for the intended travel and immigration process. Vietnam's official immigration portal describes the e-visa as a travel document and says applicants need a valid passport; it also notes that an inviting or guaranteeing organisation may be involved in some cases. The university should explain which document it will issue for the student's actual study route.
2. Class 10 and Class 12 academic records
Submit clear scans of the complete marksheets, including the reverse side if it contains instructions, grading notes or a stamp. The admissions office normally needs to see the subjects, marks, total and issuing board. If the student is awaiting the final Class 12 result, ask whether a provisional result, school letter or predicted result is acceptable and mark the application as conditional.
The subject combination matters. The partner data on this site commonly refers to Physics, Chemistry and Biology, but thresholds differ. For example, the current profiles show a higher academic screen for Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, while several private universities publish different minimums. Do not use one university's threshold as a general Vietnam rule.
Ask for written confirmation of:
- the minimum aggregate and whether it is calculated across all subjects or specified subjects;
- whether English is counted separately;
- whether improvement-exam marks are accepted;
- whether a gap year needs an explanation; and
- the deadline for the final certificate.
3. Transfer certificate and school-leaving evidence
A transfer certificate, school-leaving certificate or equivalent document can be important at final enrolment even when it was not requested for the first screening. Ask the university for the exact name it uses. Some applicants have a transfer certificate, others have a migration certificate or a school leaving certificate; these are not interchangeable in every administrative process.
Check the document's issue date, school seal and authorised signature. If the student has already joined another course, disclose that fact rather than creating a gap in the academic history. Keep the original safely; send a scan first unless the university has provided a traceable original-document procedure.
4. English-medium proof and language questions
An English-medium certificate should normally identify the student, school, programme and period of study, and state that instruction was delivered in English. The exact format is set by the university. Some admissions announcements may also accept an English transcript or test evidence.
This certificate answers only one narrow question: how the previous school taught the student. It does not prove that the Vietnamese medical programme is entirely in English. Before accepting an offer, request the programme document and ask specifically about lectures, practicals, patient communication, clinical records, examinations, internship and graduation paperwork.
That distinction matters for the NMC pathway. The NMC's FMGL FAQ states that the foreign medical course must have English as the medium of instruction and include theory, practical and clinical training equivalent to Indian MBBS requirements. The FAQ is explanatory guidance, so the regulations and later notices remain controlling.
5. NEET documents: separate admission from licensing
Keep the NEET scorecard and qualifying proof in the application folder even if the first university checklist does not mention them. The reason is that NEET can appear in two different decisions:
- The university may make a valid NEET qualification an admission condition. Dai Nam University is the clear example in the site's current partner data.
- India-side rules may require qualifying NEET for an Indian student who wants to pursue a foreign medical qualification and later use the Indian licensing route.
Never write “NEET not required” without naming the university, intake and decision being discussed. Ask the admissions office to state whether it needs the scorecard, qualifying percentile, year, application number or only a declaration. Separately check NMC's current foreign-medical-graduate materials for the admission year.
6. Medical fitness, photographs and supporting papers
The health certificate is often treated as a formality, but it can delay enrolment if the format is wrong. Ask for the university's current form, validity period, test list and accepted medical practitioner. Confirm whether vaccination history, chest imaging, blood tests or a specific laboratory report is required rather than arranging an unnecessary panel.
Prepare recent photographs in the requested size and background. Keep a simple document index with the file name, issue date and whether the item is original, scanned, translated or legalised. This reduces mistakes when the university asks for a revised file.
Some applicants may also need a birth certificate, affidavit, bank or sponsorship statement, police clearance, insurance proof or parent consent. These are not universal MBBS admission requirements; request them only when the university or immigration authority identifies the purpose and format.
7. Translation, authentication and the final pre-payment review
Before paying, request one consolidated written checklist from the university. It should identify which documents are needed for initial assessment, final enrolment, visa or temporary residence, and the deadline for each.
Use this final review:
- The legal university name and medical programme name match across the offer, invoice and website.
- The course duration, degree title and teaching language are written down.
- The university explains clinical sites, practical training and internship arrangements.
- The fee quotation separates tuition, hostel, insurance, deposits, visa support and other charges.
- Refund, deferral and cancellation rules are included.
- The WDOMS record is checked as a data point, not treated as accreditation or NMC approval. WDOMS itself says that listing does not denote recognition, accreditation or endorsement.
- The programme's host-country authorisation and current university status are verified through official sources.
Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training quality-information portals can help with the host-country context, but they do not replace a programme-level answer from the university. Likewise, an agency can organise documents but cannot guarantee future Indian registration.
Limitations and date note
This guide was checked on 25 July 2026. University forms, intake deadlines, translation rules, visa procedures, fees and NMC notices can change. The Vietnam immigration portal currently directs users to the official e-visa system and says e-visas can be valid for up to 90 days, but a medical student should follow the university's current invitation, visa and residence instructions. Reconfirm every document and payment condition with the university before submission.
