NEET is not listed for most partner universities, while Dai Nam is the current exception with a mandatory qualifying NEET score. That distinction matters: “NEET not required for admission” is a university-specific statement, not a universal Vietnam rule.

Nepal's MEC registration instructions ask candidates to check the detailed eligibility notice and upload academic transcripts, passport or Aadhaar for foreigners and other documents. MEC's published accreditation standards state that international MBBS candidates must qualify the relevant bachelor-level common entrance examination and present a valid recent national medical entrance test from the country of origin with the stated minimum, or another accepted route. An Indian student should not assume that a NEET score automatically resolves every Nepal admission requirement; obtain the current written foreign-candidate category and deadline.

Nepal should be budgeted from the exact college's foreign-student fee notice, not a generic internet estimate. MEC has published notices on foreign-student undergraduate tuition, but the payable amount can depend on college, quota, programme and intake. Ask for tuition, hostel, meals, deposits, examination charges and payment milestones in one document.

Build both budgets with the same categories:

• tuition and annual changes;
• hostel or rent, deposit, utilities and meals;
• visa, residence or local-registration costs;
• flights, local transport, insurance and medical checks;
• books, laptop, instruments and internet;
• India travel and an emergency reserve;
• any separate internship, examination or licensing preparation cost.

The cheapest headline number is not necessarily the cheapest completed degree. Compare the six-year total, the currency risk, the refund clause and what happens if a student must repeat a year or extend accommodation.

Language and clinical communication

English-medium lectures are not the same as English-only clinical training. In Vietnam, Vietnamese may matter for patient histories, consent, ward instructions and daily life. In Nepal, English is widely used in higher education, but the precise medium and local-language expectations still need confirmation at the college and hospital level.

Ask each institution for a written answer to these questions:

1. Which subjects and examinations are in English?
2. When do hospital postings begin, and how many supervised hours are required?
3. Which hospitals are named in the affiliation documents?
4. What language is used with patients and in case records?
5. What clinical logbook, internship and completion certificates are issued?
6. Can international students access the same clinical rotations as local students?

Avoid pass-rate claims or vague promises about “European standard” or “international exposure” unless the university provides verifiable evidence. WDOMS is useful for checking a medical school record, but its own directory guidance says listing is not recognition, accreditation or endorsement.

Safety, distance and family support

Nepal is geographically close to India, which can make family visits and cultural familiarity easier for some households. Vietnam offers warm-weather cities and established Indian cohorts on the partner campuses, but the student may need more preparation for Vietnamese language, food, payment systems and residence procedures. These are practical fit questions, not a ranking of people or countries.

Ask about airport pickup, emergency contacts, hostel security, access to local healthcare, food arrangements, transport to teaching hospitals, student insurance and who helps with residence renewals. Speak to current students only through verifiable university or family contacts, and do not treat a single testimonial as evidence of the whole programme.

NMC and recognition checklist

Before paying either university, verify:

• the precise university and medical programme in current official records;
• the institution's legal status and local regulator or ministry evidence;
• the programme duration, clinical training and internship structure;
• the language of instruction and patient-facing training;
• the teaching hospitals and student access to them;
• the transcript, logbook and graduation documents issued;
• the NMC rules and notices that apply to the student's admission year;
• the written fee, refund, visa and accommodation terms.

The responsible choice is the offer with the clearest written answer on four questions: what degree is awarded, where and how clinical training happens, what the complete six-year cost is, and what evidence supports the student's India-side licensing pathway.
