The safest time to slow down is just before payment. For MBBS in Vietnam, an Indian student should receive a university-specific offer or admission confirmation, a line-item fee invoice, official payment instructions and written refund conditions before transferring a substantial amount. A WhatsApp message, brochure or verbal promise is not a substitute for those documents.
This guide explains what to check, how to compare a fee quote with the site's Vietnam fee guide, and which questions should remain open until the university answers them.
Start with the exact university and intake
“MBBS in Vietnam” is not one national fee product. The seven partner universities listed on this site differ in city, tuition model, hostel arrangement, eligibility and clinical setup. Some publish a flat annual tuition figure in the local partner data; others use an escalating six-year schedule. The university directory is useful for shortlisting, but the written offer for the student's intake should replace an older web figure.
Before discussing the amount, check that the document names:
- the legal university and faculty or school;
- the exact medical degree and duration;
- the intake year and expected start date;
- the student's full name and passport details, where available;
- the admission status: application, conditional offer or confirmed admission;
- the admissions office email or official letterhead;
- the person authorised to sign or issue the document.
If the document only says “Vietnam medical admission” or names an agent but not a university and programme, it is too vague to support payment.
Read the fee quote as a contract summary
The most useful fee quote is a table, not a single total. Ask the university or authorised admissions office to separate the following lines:

Verify the payment route before sending money
The beneficiary name should match the university or the payment processor identified in the official instructions. Ask whether the account is held by the university, an authorised education partner or another entity, and ask for the legal basis if the names differ. The receiving bank, account number, SWIFT details, invoice number and payment reference should all be consistent.
Keep these records in one folder:
- signed or electronically issued offer letter;
- fee invoice and hostel quotation;
- official email confirming the payment account;
- bank transfer form, exchange-rate record and transfer charges;
- university receipt acknowledging the exact student and intake;
- all refund, cancellation and deferral terms;
- the contact details for finance and admissions.
Do not conceal a discrepancy. If an agent's rupee calculation differs from the university's dollar or Vietnamese-dong invoice, ask which exchange rate, tax, bank fee or service charge explains it. A lower quote is not automatically better if it omits the first-year hostel, residence or document costs.
Refund questions to get in writing
Families often ask whether money comes back if a student changes their mind or a visa is not issued. The correct answer is institution-specific. A university may distinguish an application fee, seat confirmation, tuition deposit and prepaid hostel amount, each with a different rule.
Ask the university to answer these scenarios explicitly:
- the application is rejected after the application fee;
- the offer is accepted but the visa or residence process is not completed;
- the student withdraws before the course starts;
- the university defers the intake or changes the programme;
- the student cannot obtain the required documents on time;
- the student arrives but leaves during the first semester;
- the hostel is unavailable or the room type changes.
The document should state the deduction, deadline, evidence required, refund currency, expected processing time and the party responsible for the transfer charge. “Refundable as per policy” is not sufficiently clear unless the policy is attached or linked to the offer.
Do not confuse payment with recognition
An invoice cannot establish whether the programme will meet India's foreign medical graduate requirements. Check the exact medical school in WDOMS, remembering that a directory entry is not itself recognition or endorsement. Confirm the Vietnamese institution and programme through competent host-country information, including Vietnam's MOET quality-information portal where relevant.
For the India-side pathway, read the current NMC rules and regulations and the NMC FMGL FAQ. Ask the university to document the full course duration, teaching medium, theory and practical subjects, clinical training, internship or clerkship, local registration position and final documents. NMC rules and notices can change; no university or counsellor can guarantee future registration or exam outcomes.
Check the visa and arrival sequence separately
Vietnam's official National Immigration Portal is the starting point for current entry information. A short entry permission is not automatically the complete long-term student process. Ask the university who issues the invitation or sponsorship documents, who handles temporary residence registration, which documents the student carries on arrival and what happens if the passport or intake date changes.

A payment-ready checklist
Do not treat a file as payment-ready until the family can answer yes to most of these questions:
- Is the exact university, programme and intake written clearly?
- Does the invoice match the offer letter and student passport spelling?
- Are tuition, hostel and one-time charges separated?
- Is the payment beneficiary official and independently confirmed?
- Are refund, deferral and visa-failure terms attached?
- Do we know what documents and receipts the university will issue?
- Have we checked WDOMS, host-country information and current NMC material?
- Have we budgeted exchange-rate movement and bank charges?
- Do we know who handles residence, hostel allocation and emergencies?
For a profile-based review, use the site's contact page or the existing WhatsApp counselling flow. Share the written offer, invoice and questions. Counselling can help organise the review, but the university's official documents and the applicable regulators should guide the payment decision.
