MBBS in Vietnam vs Poland 2026: A Parent Decision Guide for Indian Students

For most Indian families, Vietnam versus Poland is not a simple cheap-versus-expensive decision. Vietnam's current partner data shows a lower published six-year tuition range, while Poland has established English-language medical programmes but can carry substantially higher tuition and a more demanding European admissions and visa file. The deciding evidence is the named university's written course, clinical, language, accommodation and India-side licensing documentation.

This comparison adds Poland to the site's existing country comparison hub. For Vietnam-specific checks, use the university shortlist guide, fee structure guide, English-medium and clinical-language guide and student visa arrival guide.

The figures are directional, not offers. Exchange rates, fee schedules, quotas and immigration rules change.

Compare tuition as a full six-year commitment

The Vietnam figure comes from the site's current partner-university schedules. It covers tuition only; hostel, food, insurance, visa or residence, travel, documents and personal costs are separate or require confirmation. A family should not treat the lowest number as representative of every institution.

Poland's official Study in Poland medicine search currently lists the Poznan University of Medical Sciences English Medicine programme as a six-year, 12-semester course with tuition of PLN 71,000-81,000 per year and no scholarship listed on that entry. That is a concrete example, not a Poland-wide average. The official Polish study-cost information also says foreign-language and institution-specific fees are set by the university and can vary.

Make a six-year worksheet with the same lines for both options:

  • tuition by year and the currency used on the invoice;
  • application, seat confirmation, examination and graduation charges;
  • hostel or rent, utilities, food and local transport;
  • health insurance, residence permit, visa and document translation;
  • flights, winter clothing or climate-related costs and India travel;
  • emergency reserve and possible fee or exchange-rate movement.

Poland's higher education and living costs can make a tuition-only comparison misleading. Vietnam's lower published tuition does not eliminate the need for a realistic living budget.

Admission and academic equivalence

Vietnam admission is not one national MBBS route. The current partner set includes university-specific thresholds and NEET treatment. Some programmes ask for science subject combinations, English-medium proof or an interview; documents may need authentication, consular legalisation and certified Vietnamese translation. The application documents checklist shows the questions to ask.

Poland also requires a university-specific review. The official PUMS medicine listing describes a secondary-school qualification or equivalent credential and lists its application deadline and programme details. A parent should ask the university how an Indian Class 12 certificate is assessed, whether a formal recognition or NAWA-related document is needed, which Biology and Chemistry results are accepted, and whether an entrance test or interview applies.

Do not use “direct admission” as a synonym for “no screening”. In either country, the university must confirm eligibility for the exact six-year medical programme before payment.

English classroom does not remove the local-language question

Dong A's 2026 international announcement states that its international Doctor of Medicine programme is delivered entirely in English and sets English evidence or assessment conditions. Parents should still ask how patients, case histories, consent, ward instructions and internship documents are handled.

Poland has English-language medical programmes, but the same practical question applies. Ask the named university whether Polish is compulsory, how many hours are required, when patient contact begins, whether clinical teaching is in Polish or English, and how interpreters or language support work. An English programme title is not enough to describe the full clinical experience.

Clinical training and recognition checks

For both countries, request a year-wise curriculum, named hospitals, rotation schedule, supervision model, attendance and logbook process, internship or clerkship arrangements and final degree documents. Ask whether the student is an observer or participates under supervision, and whether the university can issue evidence of the completed practical and clinical components.

Then check the exact institution in WDOMS. The directory is useful for identity and programme research, but a listing is not NMC recognition or a guarantee of Indian registration. Vietnam's MOET quality-information system is another host-country information source. For Poland, ask the university for its official programme and accreditation information, and verify the current status with the relevant Polish authority where needed.

The NMC rules and regulations page and current FMGL FAQ should be read for the student's admission cohort. Pay attention to course duration, English medium, theory, practical and clinical training, internship, local registration and the required Indian licensing pathway. No counsellor can guarantee future exam results.

Visa, residence and parent support

Vietnam's official Immigration Department portal says an e-visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days and that an e-visa holder may be considered for a new visa after entry if invited or guaranteed by an organisation or person in Vietnam. That means a student should not assume that a short entry visa is the whole six-year student-residence plan. Ask the university who sponsors, registers and supports each step.

For Poland, official student-visa guidance refers to proof of admission, tuition payment where applicable, funds, accommodation and language evidence. The Polish government student-visa guidance also explains that the university agreement contains the payment and refund terms. Confirm the Indian applicant's current consular checklist, insurance, translation and appointment process before paying a non-refundable amount.

Support matters after arrival. Compare airport assistance, hostel or housing allocation, emergency contacts, parent updates, food access, winter preparation in Poland and the commute to clinical sites in either country.

A parent decision rule

Vietnam is worth prioritising when the family values a lower published tuition range, a smaller university shortlist and a warmer-climate environment, provided the exact programme and clinical documents are strong. Poland may be worth prioritising when the family can support a higher tuition and living budget, complete credential and visa requirements, and has identified an English medical programme with clear clinical language and India-side documentation.

Choose the written evidence, not the country narrative. Before paying, confirm:

  • academic eligibility and any NEET position;
  • six-year tuition, refund rules and all non-tuition charges;
  • English and local clinical-language plan;
  • named hospitals, internship and graduation documents;
  • WDOMS, host-country and current NMC checks;
  • visa, residence, accommodation and welfare support;
  • payment beneficiary and the correct intake year.

For a side-by-side review of offers, use the site's contact page or the WhatsApp counselling flow. Counselling can help structure the questions; the university, regulators and immigration authorities control the final decision.

Limitations note - checked 30 July 2026

Tuition, exchange rates, university deadlines, admissions tests, language rules, clinical arrangements, visa and residence procedures and NMC guidance can change. The Poland fee example is taken from an official Study in Poland listing for PUMS and is not a country average. Reconfirm the named university's current offer, accreditation, clinical language, internship, accommodation, visa documents and India-side licensing position before payment.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vietnam or Poland cheaper for MBBS?

It depends on the exact university and whether you compare full six-year costs. Vietnam's current partner data lists approximately USD 24,606 to USD 39,350 in tuition across six years. Poland's official Study in Poland medicine listings show that English medical programmes can be much more expensive; one 2026 PUMS listing shows PLN 71,000 to PLN 81,000 per year. Compare written invoices, living costs, insurance and currency movement.

Is MBBS taught in English in Vietnam and Poland?

Both countries have English-taught options, but the exact programme matters. Dong A's 2026 international Doctor of Medicine announcement states that its programme is delivered entirely in English. Poland's official Study in Poland listing identifies English-language medicine options, while patient communication and local clinical practice still require university-specific checking.

Which country has an easier admission process for Indian students?

Neither should be described as universally easy. Vietnam admission is university-specific and may involve Class 12 subjects, marks, English evidence, document legalisation, an interview and sometimes NEET. Poland can require academic equivalence, university screening, language evidence and visa documentation. Check the named university rather than comparing country slogans.

Do Indian students need NEET for Poland or Vietnam?

NEET may be relevant to India's later licensing pathway, while the university's admission rule is separate. Some Vietnam partner universities publish a NEET admission condition and others do not. A Polish university may use its own academic and admissions criteria. Confirm the university rule and current NMC material independently.

Is Poland safer or better recognised than Vietnam?

A country label cannot establish either outcome for a particular programme. Parents should check the exact school in WDOMS, host-country institutional information, the course structure, clinical sites, internship, language and current NMC rules. Safety also depends on the city, accommodation and student-support process.

What visa documents should parents compare?

For Vietnam, ask the university how the student's admission and residence process works; the official immigration portal says an e-visa is limited to a maximum of 90 days and later arrangements may require an inviting or guaranteeing organisation. For Poland, official guidance refers to admission, tuition payment where applicable, funds, accommodation and language evidence for a student visa. Confirm current requirements with the relevant authority.

Should an Indian family choose Vietnam or Poland?

Choose the named university whose written programme, full cost, language, clinical training, internship, accommodation and licensing documents are strongest for the student. Vietnam may suit a family seeking a lower published tuition range and a defined partner shortlist; Poland may suit one comfortable with higher fees and European admissions and visa documentation. Neither is an automatic recommendation.
